ibnut Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Has anyone ever run into a similar issue with turning off "suppress zero inches" for a dimension style? I can't seem to figure it out. In my dimension style manager, the box for "suppress zero inches" is unchecked. However, whenever I dimension something with the dim style, zero inches is suppressed (ie, it's supposed to show 5'-0" but instead it shows 5'). Checking the properties of the dimension shows the setting for "Suppress zero inches" set to "Yes". I've attached a screenshot of the dimension style manager. I'm currently using AutoCAD 2010, but have tried it in 2010LT, 2009, and 2009LT with the same results. Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 1st checklist item - Are the dimensions actually using the dimension style you editted, i.e. is that dimension style set current. 2nd checklist item - Did you modify a style override rather than the true dimstyle? Pay close attention when selecting the dimstyle to modify that you're not picking one of its subgroups. Quote
ibnut Posted April 27, 2009 Author Posted April 27, 2009 Thanks for the help. 1. Yes, the dimensions are using the correct dimstyle and the dimstyle is set current. 2. I've been modifying the true dimstyle and not a style override. I've also tried creating a dimension style from scratch but to no avail. The odd thing is, when I DO check the "supress 0 inches" and "supress 0 fee" boxes in the dimension style manager, save/close the manager, and go back in the boxes appear unchecked. This only happens when I use "architectural" as the dimension units - engineering and decimal seem to work fine. I've checked the drawing units of the file and they are set to architectural. Quote
skipsophrenic Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Just a quick thought, I noticed in your dimstyle manager there's a bit greyed out with zero suppression ticked for leading. See image below - Is there anyway you can get that portion of your dimstyle manager unlocked and try to untick that box, see if it helps? Quote
ibnut Posted April 28, 2009 Author Posted April 28, 2009 I had to change the Unit Format to Engineering to unlock the "leading" check box, un-tick the box, and change the Unit Format back to Architectural. Oddly enough, that seems to work. Thanks! Quote
CHallisey Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I had to change the Unit Format to Engineering to unlock the "leading" check box, un-tick the box, and change the Unit Format back to Architectural. Oddly enough, that seems to work. Thanks! Thank you for posting that. I've been trying to fix the same problem all morning. I don't know why it works, but it does. Quote
Jacob Jackson Posted April 27, 2023 Posted April 27, 2023 (edited) I just discovered the workaround to display trailing zeros in Architectural unit dimension style: Just type a space in the Suffix. Then all the dimensions will display with the trailing zero, ie. 6'-0". I don't know why the trailing zeros won't display otherwise. AutoCAD is full of secret workarounds like this.
