Dynamic Block with COUNT or COUNTINAREA attribute displayed

Title basically sums it up. I've tried by adding attribute to the block then inserting field but when i choose either "count" or "countinarea" from the list under the "Objects" category and click ok; i get "invalid field code" error. the "Expression" window is blank so i copy the code from "Field Expression"  and insert it. that allows me to use insert the attribute but this count doesn't update. i know i can use the the count function but i'd like this number displayed and linked to the blocks.

If you search you'll see more, not sure if this is fixed in newer versions.

 

I have this issue, I can get it to work most times by selecting Objects in the first column then Okay, new Profile may help, try opening a drawing that the field selection you need is working.

 

If I run into this I'm planning on getting our IT to get it sorted. I plan on moving to the newer version when it comes out.
