katie.dim Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Hello again! I'm an architecture student and I'm trying to make a 3d terrain to my house for a project How to create a solid terrain in 3d by polylines made into surface (Loft)? I tried making a box, thickening the surface and then using the command substract so as to cut my box, but it didn't work Thank you in advance Quote
BIGAL Posted December 6 Posted December 6 This may all be irrelevant as some one else may answer. You may need to make a TIN, a triangular irregular network this is a normal surface used in civil design. There is convert 3dfaces to a solid. Then you can punch a hole in it. I dont do anything with solids so can not help much. I can only advise from a civil point of view, you would use the building as breaklines this does what it implies breaks the surface at edges, you can add 3 objects to a TIN, by not really using solids but rather again 3dfaces representing the building, yes its something I have done. There is free TIN software out there, may be a newer version than this. TriangV0.6.7.LSP Quote
lrm Posted December 6 Posted December 6 (edited) After creating the surface with loft create a box that extends above and below the surface and with sides that are within or flush with the surface. Explode the box and delete the top surface. Now use surfsculpt with the remaining 5 sides of the box plus the surface. If the bondary is not a rectangle, create a closed polyline and extrude it then explode etc. Edited December 6 by lrm 1 Quote
