Hello all!

I am new to this forum, and I have come here seeking advice.

I work for a land surveying company, and I have been tasked with creating Paper Space templates to make our plat making process more consistent and efficient. We as a company use Carlson Civil Suite 2024 with IntelliCAD, but as I tinkered with the settings in Paper Space, I noticed that Carlson is missing some of the settings I need. So, I am creating some aspects of the templates in AutoCAD, then saving the file and opening it in Carlson - things work perfect this way once the template is made, I just can't make it in Carlson. It's almost as if the car is there but the door is locked, so to speak? That's more just to let y'all know what background I'm dealing with.

So far, I have managed to create fields on 10 separate layouts (5 different paper sizes, portrait and landscape each) that allow the user to input custom properties via DWGPROPS, use REGEN, and all 10 layouts are updated. I have also managed to create a bar scale on each of the 10 layouts that automatically updates as the scale of the viewport changes. Third, I have managed to make symbols and annotative text automatically rescale as the scale of the viewport changes.

What I am wondering about now is a couple different things. Some of this will have to wait until the other guys in the company and I all come to a consensus about what symbols to use universally, and what size we all want them to be. But I can still tinker with it so when that time comes, I know what to do...

First, how do I make the symbols and text larger on a larger piece of paper? For example, if I make a plat of 10 acres at a 1:50 scale on 11x17 paper, and another plat of 100 acres at a 1:50 scale on 24x36 paper, the symbols and text should be bigger on the 24x36, even though the scale is the same. How can I accomplish this?

Second, how do I create a folder, area, whatever that has a bunch of custom-named symbols? They'd be some of the standard Carlson symbols, but instead of names like "SPT10", they'd be called names such as "3/4-INCH REBAR FOUND" or "TREE, AS SPECIFIED".

Third, how do I create a legend template? Like, I want every layout to have an auto-populating margin depending on the symbols and line types present in the viewport.

Thanks in advance to any kind of advice given, it's much appreciated!

"First, how do I make the symbols and text larger"  look into using annotative text, for blocks https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/2022/ENU/?guid=GUID-4859E66D-EF09-46ED-A4D5-989E494EC6DB.

You can save as many dwg's as you want as say Symbols in your description, to anywhere you want on a drive, I would not save real deep, you should add the directory path to your support directory list. Options Files Support. We had all our blocks on a single server so only existed in one location. If blocks are in a support path you only need its name not path when inserting. We had a Blocks directory with sub directories. Around 120 dwg's.

For the legend you can look at current dwg and make a legend. It is not dynamic but just erase and do again, takes like 1 second to make.

See the PM I sent you.
