Sometimes when I'm working with 3D shapes and intersections I can't see everything unless I run SHADEMODE or HIDE. Then I can get a better view once hidden surfaces and lines are actually hidden. Now comes the need to print out a view with the hidden lines and surfaces to discuss the project with the shop or at a clients office. My problems are two-fold:

1. If I use HIDE the view on the screen looks fine but when it comes off my printer the hidden lines are back in there.

2. If I use SHA+Conceptual or SHA+Realistic then the printout comes in color even if I set the printer setting to use Monochrome.ctb. This is at least a little better, but the colored lines are a pain to see clearly when printing on a black and white printer.

Is there a secret to getting the hidden lines to stay hidden during the print job?

When printing 3d, it’s a little different than 2d printing.

If you are in model space you can set your plot to 'hidden' using the plot duologue box, as shown in my attached image.

In paper space, you need to set up view ports to plot. Once you have set up your view ports, you need to set them to hide everything inside them, when it prints.

From the command line:

Command: MVIEW

Specify corner of viewport or

[ON/OFF/Fit/Shadeplot/Lock/Object/Polygonal/Restore/LAyer/2/3/4] : H

Hidden line removal for plotting [ON/OFF]: ON

Ya..Monochrome.ctb plot style will give you one tone color!

If you want to get color according to your drawing for 2d or 3d,you should

choose "acad.ctb".:)
