It's free for you to use for as long as you want in order to learn the program. You just can't use it for commercial purposes. Quote
td88 Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 Cad64, I went here: http://www.vue7.com/ple/ http://www.studica.com/products/product_detail.cfm?productid=56024 http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/mform?id=10083915&siteID=123112 I can see how we might get an inexpensive introduction to the software but, I'm a little uncertain about the bottom line price for our needs/budget. However, I can't see how any red-blooded, male could possibly resist the Vue videos. Will run it by the guy with the money. Thank you for your time on this. td88 Quote

I'm drawing landscape plans and laying out beds, which many times will be those shapes. The plugin software I'm using wants a bed drawn with polyline, in order to create the symbolic hatches for groundcovers. I'd love to use spline, because it lends itself to those shapes but,I'm not sure a closed shape spline will be recognized as a polyline and I don't know if polylines can be used to draw shapes like I'm describing. Any ideas? If you have access to full autocad, you can draw a spline and use a lisp program to convert the spline to a pline. I don't remember where I got the lisp I use, but it works well. Let me know if you would like it. Quote
f700es Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Vue 7 Pioneer is the new free version of Vue 7 - http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_7_pioneer/ It is free and yes it is water marked but for $50 with a theme pack it will remove the water market and for another upgrade you can import other 3D formats. Worth playing with since it is free. I have used an older version but with practice it is a very nice program! Quote

I'm a rookie, when it comes to lisp but, I would like to see it. Thanks, td88 Quote
td88 Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 f700es, I'm still a little fuzzy on how Vue will match up with what we're trying to do short term and what we can afford. I'm going to present the video and assess the reaction. If Vue is a go, I will be looking for more advice. At the least, it would be a nice ability to have. Thanks, td88 Quote
Cad64 Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Vue can be run as a stand-alone application or as a plug-in for 3DS Max, Cinema4D, Ligtwave, Maya or XSI. It doesn't work with Autocad or Sketchup. Quote
