cameroon95 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Hi guys im having some issues with some models i'v brought into max from sketchup. I'v attached an image of my problem, as you can see some of the polygons are darkended and still show like this when rendered. I'v tried to flip the polygons to no avail. Would i have to re-draw the polygon to rectify the problem? If so how do i redraw individual polygons? It seems like a bit of a pain because we're having this problem with quite a few of our models. Any help apppreciated guys. Quote
Cad64 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 This happens to me sometimes and when it does, I just redraw the poly. To do this, just switch to polygon sub-object mode, delete the bad poly, click the 'Create' button and redraw the poly. You might also want to Reset the Xform and see if that helps. Quote
cameroon95 Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 I just tried auto smooth on the bad poly and it seemed to fix it visually. Have you tried it this way? Quote
Cad64 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Yes, and sometimes that works but sometimes it doesn't. And sometimes I don't want to Auto-smooth, so I generally just replace the poly. That way I know I have good geometry. Because if I take my model into another program, like ZBrush, and my geometry isn't good, my model might explode when I try to sub-divide it. Quote
