Organic Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Can someone please explain this to me. Is it a universal global layer or what? Quote
ReMark Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 It's created when dimensions are used. Anything put on the layer will not plot. Some people will experience problems trying to select items that are placed on the Defpoints layer. Quote
ReMark Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Check this explanation out. It's a little for technical. http://www.cadinfo.net/icad/defpoints.htm Quote
bonehead411 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 So when a dimension is created, the 'node' point, (which is the part that attaches itself to the object / geometry that you are dimensioning) is created on the defpoints layer. I think the same is also true of points created with the divide command, and probably some other commands too. The layer has to be there for AutoCAD to function properly. Some use this layer for viewports and other things if they do not want those items to be plotted on the final hard copy, but this practice is often frowned upon, with most preferring dedicated layers for non plotting entities. The DIVIDE and MEASURE commands create points on the current layer only. Quote
