lineweight set to default but still plotting thick, colours funny as well

Hello,

 

I thought i was getting used to CAD but when printing my lineweights continue to be all messed up:?. I have set the lineweight to default but the drawings are still coming out with thick lines, i think the components in question i initially decided to try and play with the lineweights, but was since told by lecturer not to and give my drawings some finesse.

 

HELP please! this is aweful

Lineweight can be set within the Layer Properties manager or it can be hnadled via your plot file (ctb or stb?). Lines can also plot thicker if they were polylines that had a width applied to them. Any of this ring a bell?

unfortunately no, as far as i can see in the layers properties manager they are all black with a continuous linetype and default lineweight. Ive never had this problem up until recently where can i find the plot file?

1. Go TOOLS>OPTIONS and into the PLOT and Publish tab and click

on the button I've highlighted.

 

 

2. On the pop-up dialogue box click on the second button I've

highlighted.

 

 

once done you should get a window pop-up where your .ctb files are

stored, make a COPY of one of your defaults, double click on the

copy and then edit it as rqd.

ok tried it, with my revamped cladding detail; although im a bit confused in what your supposed to do with the stb files once there

 

the lines are still coming out thick and if i remember correctly i am using a acad.ctb/stb? which i think should be default, now i can seem to find my printer but windows preferred printer.pc3 seems to work although with thick lines

Go to your layer manager and take a look at a layer that is plotting thick and note its plot style name. It will either be PenXX or a name like Heavy.

 

If it is PenXX then you are using CTB. Now go back into the CTB as shown earlier and find PenXX to see what lineweight it is set to, set it to a thinner value. Or set your layer to a PenXX number that is already set thinner, doing this in the Layer Manager.

 

If it is a name like Heavy, you are using STB; then click on that in the Layer Manager and a list of choices will come up, and pick one named Thin, etc. I have to guess at names since STB's can be named almost anything. You could also go into the STB and modify the Heavy plot style name to a thinner lineweight but that would defeat the purpose of a heavy plot style name.

in my plot style i have color_7 and color_250

good god why is this so difficult, i have been trying the above advice for hours now, changed all my lineweights to 0.05mm, colors all to 250 (black) and am still getting grey, thick aweful monsters. Made my self a new plot style but have been trying to avoid using them altogether maybe i will try re-drawing all the lines, never had this problem before, as far as possible i have been setting the plot settings to go by layer and still no hope, i just dont under stand

Maybe u should click the lines and go to the layer properties.

Change the lineweight from default to 0.05.

 

Or if u don't want to use any lineweight style for your plot style just Ctrl + P, to go to plot dialog box, and extend the parameters by clicking the arrow button beside the 'HELP' buton.

And make sure the 'Plot Object Lineweights' is unticked.

Post the drawing or portion thereof along with what ever CTB file you are using. We can't keep guessing what you have done with the file.

sorry its all sorted now i did what the above poster just said although in A4 it was still doing the same thing although made a A1 layout and printed that off today and all seems well other than i have to times my ewanted scale by 25 to get the right scale (if that makes sense) and some spots missing on the hatchings
