Butch Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Hello! Need some help guys:) I know how to create a custom toolbar but how to add commands that I want to be in it? Is it also possibele that you can call you toolbar when ever you want with eg. middle mouse click, pick a command and then toolbar automaticly closes? Thanx a lot! Quote
Lithium Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 As for adding commands to the custom toolbar, just drag (from CUI) and drop. Quote
Butch Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 I did that, but its not working?!?! What aboth "middle mouse button" pop-up? Quote
fuccaro Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 just drag (from CUI) and drop.CUI doesn't exist in AutoCAD 2004!Butch, you say that you tried that... please specify what version do you use; your profile says that's 2004. Quote
rob150588 Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Because he's using 2004 is probably why the CUI command doesn't work ?! Creating custom toolbars in 2004 was never the simplest task. The best way for a beginner to create them is to use the CUSTOMISE command. This will give you a nice dialogue box to work with. You can create a new toolbar from the Toolbar tab and specify which menu group it will belong to. The new blank toolbar should appear floating somewhere in your workspace. You can then create new command using the Commands tab. These can then be dragged and dropped onto your new toolbar as you wish. As long as you know a little bit about writing macros, creating new commands for the toolbars should be fairly simple. If you're feeling brave you can write a new MNU file to load into AutoCAD which will contain your toolbar. This can then be loaded into additional systems with relative ease. If you need any help just shout. Hope that helps ? Rob. Quote
rob150588 Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 What aboth "middle mouse button" pop-up? Oh yeah, not too sure about doing that. But you can just dock the toolbar somewhere out of the way... Rob. Quote
Butch Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 Upsssss sorry guys, forgot to update my profile. Autocad 2006 now. Anyway I figured it out, but one thing thats not clear, is there any way of assining toolbar to a mouse click, so it pops up when you call for it. Also I found a bunch of mouse buttons to wich you can assing commands, but this I dont get?! I have only 3 mouse buttons and here its says 10?!?!?! Quote
Butch Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Guys Im also having a hard time assining keyboard shortcuts :-( This is changed a lot from version 2005 Quote
Tiger Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Regarding the mouse buttons - I think AutoCAD is just prepared for you to have up to 10 mousebuttons (think high-tech-alien-mouse), but if you don't have that many it just starts from the top and you use the 1-2-3 then. MAkes sense? Regarding the keayboird shortcuts - what commands are you trying to assign? Just commands? In that case the form ^C^C_command works fine. Is it a whole command sequence that you want to assign - I have a button with the command sequence ^C^C-scalelistedit;R;Y;E; attached to it, for automatic clearing of the Scalelist. I'ts basically what you type on the commandline. A bit more info on what you're trying to accomplish and some more tips will most likley crop up Quote
rob150588 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Without getting too technical, you can run a macro to show the toolbar: ^C^C_-toolbar;TOOLBAR-NAME-HERE;fl;100,100;; You can assign this to your middle mouse button (button 3, I think) using CUI on 2006. You'll still have to close the toolbar manually. Like I say, without getting too technical this will probably be the easiest thing to do for what you want. Hope that helps. Rob. Quote

Butch Posted March 8, 2009 Author Posted March 8, 2009 Ive tried to crate my keyboard shortcut but this is hust a nightmare. Cad64 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Try the Express Tools "Command Alias Editor". Just go to the 'Express' pull down menu > Tools > Command Alias Editor, or type ALIASEDIT at the command line. This is assuming that you included the Express Tools when you installed Autocad? Quote
Butch Posted March 8, 2009 Author Posted March 8, 2009 Didnt installed it :-( Any step by step tutorial maybe or could someone guide me? Quote
Cad64 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 The Express Tools are on your installation CD. Just insert the disk, select "Custom" installation and load them. Quote
Cad64 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 You can also add or change command aliases by opening your acad.pgp file and editing it manually. Go to your 'Tools' pull down menu > Customize > Edit Program Parameters (acad.pgp). This will open your pgp file in Notepad so you can edit it as necessary. Once the file is open, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the file, to the User Defined Command Aliases. This is where you add new aliases or create overrides for existing ones. Make sure you type them in the proper format. Look at the existing ones to see how they are written. When you're finished, save and close the file. Then back in Autocad, type REINIT to open the Re-initialization dialog. Select "PGP File" and hit Ok. Now your changes will take effect. Quote
