OK so what setting have I changed by mistake to get my hatches to do this (AutoCAD)?

(below is "AR-CONC" as an example, the rest are doing similar, different hatch scales arn't making a difference, sysvar monitor not telling me anything, restart CAD didn't do anything, different hatch patterns all doing odd stuff, options menu looks like the support path is correct)

Have you tried reinstalling your printer driver?  I recall having a similar problem several years ago.

Could be an annotative scale issue. First see if the hatch is annotative. Then try changing your annotative display scale to something much bigger or smaller, see if that makes a difference.

Thanks - that's on the screen though,

EDIT...

However a PDF just worked correctly - might be something in your answer that it is display driver related then

Just a comment Ar-conc misbehaves so does Gravel when you are working in real world co-ordinates like 52712245,297678. A simple fix is to set the hatch origin to a point on your project.

Try resetting the origin of the hatch to somewhere with the viewport. Some hatches don't seem to like having the origin way out side the drawing area.
