ramson Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Hello, I am using the AutoCAD Civil 3D Land Desktop Companion 2008 software and every time I try to create a Full Profile I get the following AutoCad Error Aborting Window that has the following message inside Fatal Error: Unhandled c000000dh Exception at 78144604h Then the program shuts down and restarts. Another group in the lab is also doing this same project and they generated their Full profile just fine, so I am not sure what I might have done wrong. I have set up my drawing, Created a Project for the file, Created my DTM, Created my Horizontal Alignment, and Sampled my surface, but each time I go to Profiles>Create Profiles>Full Profile... I get this error. I am not sure what to do from here and I could really use someone's help. Thank you [14]_FATAL_ERROR.doc Quote
rustysilo Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Why use LD Companion if you have Civil 3d? Quote
rkmcswain Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Why use LD Companion if you have Civil 3d? Many people upgraded to Civil 3D purely for the financial deal that was being offered at the time and have yet to implement it for various reasons. Moving from LDT to C3D is no trivial matter. Quote
rustysilo Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 This is true, however, if they are like me they kept using Land Desktop simply because they don't know how to use C3d and have the intention of switching someday. I eventually had to uninstall Land Desktop and strictly use C3d to force myself to use it. I'm very happy that I did that and I would strongly suggest they do it also. Us folks can help them muddle through it. Quote
ramson Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 Thanks for the reply. I would really like to use Civil 3d but our school's lab only has Land Desktop Companion 2008. Well, Thanks for noticing the post. Quote
ReMark Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 You might have a problem with your Registry and thus the c000000dh error. What OS are you running? You might try using a Registry cleaner but before doing so create a Restore point and backup any important files. Quote
ramson Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 Thank you for the reply. The computer lab has Windows XP and I was told that they run something called Workstation Ghost (I think that's the name). What it does is completely reloads a new drive image each time a student logs on. They said that it makes the computers last longer because - no matter what goes on during a student's computing session - once the computer restarts, everything is wiped clean and the computer behaves as if there was no one on it before. So, I guess it cuts their work in half, but I am not sure how many problems this may cause when it comes to the registry. On Monday morning, I will look for a Registry Cleaner and run it to see if that helps. Thanks for your time on this question and I hope it works. Quote
rustysilo Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Ohh you're a student. Didn't know that part. I retract my previous statements in regard to your post. Quote
ReMark Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I would imagine that Workstation Ghost would also restore the Registry too. Quote
tkelly Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Try repairing or reinstalling the software through the concerned person may be something is corrupted or is not working properly. This should solve the problem Tom Quote
carlo-ph Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I also had that error, what is the name of your surface and alignment? if it is long, try to rename it with a simple one, containing only letters and numbers, try to make it short like 8 characters max. also try to avoid space. that solves my problem. For sure this is already a very late reply... Quote
ReMark Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Thank you for sharing your solution with us carlo-ph and welcome to the CADTutor forum. Nice of you to join us. Quote
Darin.Green Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I am not sure what to do from here and I could really use someone's help. Thank you Ransom, You're not doing anything wrong, this issue is caused because you don't have rights to certain locations on the machine. You mentioned when logging into the machine everything resets to a default setting.... >) To resolve the issue, have the IT person or teacher log into the machine to change the that file extension from *.man to *.dat then provide you with power user rights. Log back into your machine and initiate the secondary installer. 1. Within Windows Explorer, browse to and delete the following folders: C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\LDT 2008 C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\LDT 2008 2. Within the Registry (Start > Run, type regedit and click Go) delete the following folder" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.1\ACAD-6008:409 Start the application, After the program fully loads, close it. Have the IT person lock the machine down again. Quote
