rustysilo Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Now I doubt it is a project I'll take on anytime soon, but I saw a few tutorials on how to build your own CNC machine on instructables.com and I thought "hey, that would be pretty freakin cool to do that" so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good free CAM software that I'd be able to use with one of these CNC machines. I had searched on sourceforge.net, but I'm not exactly sure what all to look for in the software or which ones are the better quality software. Quote
pefi Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Have you seen this: http://www.freebyte.com/cad/cadcam.htm Przemo Quote
SLW210 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Thanks guys, I am going to look into this. Quote
Vince0115 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Here's another: cadcamw.zip from www.software.files.download.com. Cost is free to try; UD$95.00 to buy. It's supposed to be pretty good. If all you need to do is write/edit CNC codes and have a graphic program check (including tool compensation, spindle rotation, coolant flow, etc.) then go to www.cncsimulator.com which is the site for micro-tech international. Download the simulator solftware. It's freeware; I use it (and so do my students) whch I teach programming classes (2 nights a week). Good luck! Quote
johyn Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Cambam works well but not a 3d cam.. I did build my own CNC router and it was a very cool project. Quote
fuccaro Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 It sounds nice, Johyn! Can you tell us more about that project? Quote
