qball Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 how do i make these symbols? i know centreline has a symbol in the symbol library but it's not the same font as our standard font. we've got a few old jobs and details that have the plate and centreline symbols in the proper text, but if i text edit them, they show up as a square or question mark. these were created years ago by employees that are no longer here and by older versions of autocad. any help is appreciated. ReMark Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 You could always substitute a block for each symbol. What is your standard font? What font were the symbols created with? Quote
Guest Alan Cullen Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Sounds like you are involved in civil work. Forget about how to be clever. Just type "centreline" and be done with it. You could not have more than a dozen roads. Quote
SLW210 Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Plate is \U+214A Centerline is \U+2104 Available in theseTrue Type (TTF) and SHX Fonts... Simplex RomanS Isocp Isocp2 Isocp3 Isoct Isoct2 Isoct3 Isocpeur (TTF only) Isocpeur italic (TTF only) Isocteur (TTF only) Isocteur italic (TTF only) Quote
halfcracked Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 They were also built in to some of the .SHX fonts. & could be added with %% codes. I'm not near my cheat sheets or I list them too. Quote

What font were the symbols created with? it's a bit goofy here. the current font we use is archquik (and archisel for titles). in years past the program fonts were changed so "romans" gave the appearance of archquik. so it was labelled romans but was archquik font. looks like i'm kind of stuck. What's the problem with using the original setup? You could switch to RomanS just for the symbols. Your other option is to use blocks, you could set them up with a button for each block to be inserted. Quote
halfcracked Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Iif you have AE1.shx font (or AE2 AE3) it looks a lot like archiquick & the following works: %%250 = plate %%249 = FL %%248 %%D = centerline %%128 or %%p = +- %%127 = degree %%C = diameter Quote
qball Posted August 27, 2007 Author Posted August 27, 2007 where did you get the "ae1.shx" font? i don't have it on acad 2007 Quote
halfcracked Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 It's (AE!.SHX) been floating around our office since R11 - used to be our office standard. I've been poking around & can't seem to find reference to it anywhere current. I think it's a discontinued font from Autodesk. I would post it here but I'm not sure of the legal status on it. Quote
qball Posted April 8, 2011 Author Posted April 8, 2011 I am resurfacing this old thread. If I could make one of these symbols from a block, can I add it to the shortcut menu Symbol in Mtext Editor? Quote
Bill W Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I will say this as nice as I can... If I were paying the bill for your design out of my own pocket, I would want you to forget standards and proper font and just say "center line". Oh well. I also needed to insert a "CL" symbol, so just used Annotation/Single Line Text and typed "C", then a separate "L". Then selected each and moved them so they were superimposed and over the center line. When you are retired like me and nobody is paying you, you can mess around like this, and the only thing that matters is if you are having fun, at least a little bit. Quote
