diskoalnis Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 Hello forum members! Recently I found myself doing a lot of work with drainage system design and I was wondering if maybe some members of this forum have an experience in this field. As described by the topic title I'm searching for an open channel, field drainage, drainage ditch design software/ maybe an addon for Autocad that can generate longitudinal and cross-section profiles. I found myself working with a lot of culvert design too so maybe there are some recommendations for this too. Perhaps someone can recommend software generally for these types of purposes. I understand I should start with some deep dive in a Googe and going through some software trial versions but I figure maybe I save some time and ask here for possible recommendations. For now I just mainly use an Autocad with some different lisps to get my tasks done but I am in a search of something more efficient. Thanks in advance for any help in this matter. Quote
BIGAL Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 A ditch is a road upside down, just holds water ! That is how you would design it. The 1st is CIV3D obviously, for me I use Civil Site Design, also available for Bricscad, can be a cheaper combo than CIV3D. https://civilsitedesign.com/ Quote
diskoalnis Posted September 8, 2022 Author Posted September 8, 2022 Thank you for your reply @BIGAL It seems I should start investing my time in learning civil3d. I will definitely check out Civil site design. Quote
BIGAL Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 You can download a trial version of Civil Site Design, have you used any civil design software ? They all work similar, an alignment, a road shape, then a vertical design, output long and cross sections. Quote
diskoalnis Posted September 19, 2022 Author Posted September 19, 2022 I have little experience using Civil 3D. I probably just scraped the surface of what Civil 3D can do so I just need to find more time to learn. Thank you BIGAL for your replies, I really appreciate it. Quote
BIGAL Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 No worries a big learning curve, there are tutorials if you did into the Install. I admit never used them as we had professional training. Quote
