nicolas
Hi, I have 2 Boundary Points (BP1, BP2) in UTM 40s eastings, northings coordinate which I was able to correctly locate in Google Earth. Now for the remaining points BP3 and BP4, there is another chart called "Boundary Coordinates Local Grid" and BP1 is rewritten as 1000 m (Easting),1000 m (Northing). Then I have BP2 written as 987.11,991.86 and similar coordinate for BP3, BP4. I would like to know if there is a tool or a principle to easily locate all points and join them to form the site boundaries on google earth or Autocad. Thanks. CyberAngel
Are you familiar with User Coordinate Systems? Once you have located BP1 in the UTM system, you can redefine your coordinates to give BP1 the proper position in relation to your benchmark. Then you can enter your other coordinates in relation to the benchmark.
robierzo
I would use the align command
Steven P
You might need to go to an online converter to get the points. How many points do you have by the way? Problem being that the world is (mostly) ball shaped yet we want to make plans on flat pieces of paper, to get this to happen some clever maths happens (too clever for me, I tried to understand it once but gave up when I made a mistake with the sums), and local base points are used to keep things accurate. So you might be lucky that your eastings and northings from what I assume are local site coordinates align to UTM 40... it might be that they use a different base point and small errors will happen in the conversion. So go with someone who has done the work, use a converter perhaps, then you can plot onto google earth as you wish
