vertical horizons Posted April 22, 2022 Posted April 22, 2022 Is it possible to scale an .ipt (or an .iam) along just the Y Axis? I know that you can go into the drawing and modify it there, but can you SCALE an object in the direction of just ONE axis? Quote
TerryDotson Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Don't know what IPT / IAM is but if it's inside CAD you should be able to make a block of the object, insert that block with the desired Y scale only, then explode it. Beware that polylines with arcs will become elliptical arcs in the process. Quote
vertical horizons Posted April 26, 2022 Author Posted April 26, 2022 Ipt stands for Inventor Part, and Iam stands for Inventor Assembly. Both of these are 3D features. Quote
kmetzler Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 I don't think that you can for assemblies (.iam) but yes for parts (.ipt) you can do non uniform scaling to the solid body as a direct edit In the 3D Model tab's Modify panel there is the "Direct" command. You can use that to modify the 3D geometry of models that have no history which are imported from other sources, or you can use it to modify native Inventor .ipt files as well. Click on the body, then click scale, and from the drop down change the mode from uniform to non-uniform Quote
