Hello, 

I'm Trying to type a delta symbol alt 0394 does not give me a delta symbol It gives me a "S" with a v on top. How do I type a delta symbol in Mtext?

In MTEXT type \U+0394 or \U+2206.  The other option would be to click the Symbol button on the Ribbon then select any symbol that you need.
