Convert Drawing Files Between File Types

Recommended Posts

What's up gang.  Is anyone aware of a converter, plugin, Lisp, etc. that is capable of converting drawing files between file types.  Example: I work out of AutoSprink which I think is a .3Ds file type, and it needs to go into Navis which is a .nwd.  The route I usually have to take is exporting it as an .fbx then importing it into AutoCAD as a .dwg, then out again as a .nwd (i think)...feel like I'm doing algebra just describing this.  The customer wants all of this to be compatible with Microstation though and I have no clue what file type that is.  So, anyone have any bright ideas, suggestions, or maps in the right direction?  Maybe a magic plugin or some software where you just select the desired file type then grab a cup of coffee and go one about your day.  Would greatly appreciate the help.  Tks.

Would the 1st place to start not be AutoSprink after all its their software, export to DWG and DGN toolkits are out there for developers.

Why are you going to Naviswork?

AutoSprink exports .dwg AFAIK.

AFAIK, Microstation can Import .dwg and/or AutoCAD can export and import Microstation .dgn files.

I see no need to come out of AutoCAD as .nwd and AFAIK AutoCAD doesn't export to .nwd.

If you want to search around, there were some batch dgn converters around here somewhere.

Also check the Autodesk APP Store, most likely all of the plug-ins available there as well. AutoCAD Store: Plugins and Add-ons for AutoCAD | Autodesk App Store
