Primal Scientist Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Hi All, Please help!! I am trying to scale a profile / levels that I have just done. My datum is 3.5, and my level is 4.450. So if I subtract my level from my datum, that gives me 0.95. I then times this by 12.5 which gives me 11.875. I offset this from my datum line and then finally I have my level to show. Now I have been told to do this for various different levels which is fine. If I scale the horizontal profile at 1:250, what would my vertical be? Thanks Daz Quote
CarlB Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Its not clear to me what you're doing, I'm trying to filter it using my usual approach; -In a profile where the horiz & vertical scales are different, only the vertical scale is exaggerated. Distances in the horizontal are drawn as "true". Vertical distance are scaled by the "exaggeration" factor. I'm assuming the 1:250 scale is a plot scale, and the 12.5 you mention is the "exaggeration" scale. So just go to your next point horizontaly, new scale, then figure out where to plot the vertical point. An easier way to draw profile (which reduces the # of calculations so probably more accurate), is draw a profile at true scale, no vertical exaggeration - just use distances and elevations for the polyline points. Then make a block of the polyline, insert it, use the exaggeration for the y scale factor. Then can explode it back to a polyline, or to line segments you can re-join. Quote
Primal Scientist Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 Its okay, The scale is 1:20!! Thanks anyway. Daz. (Sorry Carl, I could have explained it better actually but thanks for taking the time to read and reply). Regards Daz. Quote
