Projection notes greyed out and overriden for Crossing Notes

Hey all,

 

   I don't know what's going on.  Tuesday all my projection notes on Cross sections were working.  That is, I'd select a cross section, choose project object on the ribbon and select a feature line to project a note to my Cross Sections showing where the ROW or EOP are.

Well Wednesday morning after IT has updated all our copies of Civil3d 2018 to the latest update C3D_2018_3_2; I can no longer do projections.  When I select it the way I always have for 7 years now, all projection options are locked off from me and I only get "Crossing notes" now.

 

 

We've rolled back the update but the issue is still there.  I can't click the boxes for Draw projections at all.  The entire right side where the Projection headings are all yellowed out.  I can't for the life of me figure out WHY.  I've googled everywhere, I've asked the AutoDESK forums, I've opened every setting I can think to look at and I've asked colleagues in my current office and other workplaces I've worked at.  All to no avail.

 

I'm hoping someone here knows why it's only allowing me crossing labels and nothing for projection labels at all...
