Thanks for the list, it really came in handy.

If I may, I also found this website: http://www.syncronia.com/index.asp?lingua=en

You have to register, but it has a vast library of free 3d models (and textures) for AutoCAD and Revit Architecture.

Can't believe no one has mentioned. Traceparts.net they have everything to do with engineering and parts for company catalogues

Some useful free funiture, lighting 3d models

 

Vitra offers all of their furniture (dwg, 3ds & more) here (no need to register)

 

Emeco shares their legendary chairs (3d dwg) here (no need to register)

 

Artemide.de offers most of their range (dwg, 3ds, dxf) here (no need to register)

 

Duravit lets you download everything (3d dxf) here (no need to register)

For those folks with an iPad, there is a very cool app you can use. Look for 3-D CAD Model in the App Store. The company is called CADENAS and have compiled a huge library of vendor parts into a searchable database.

 

The part pictures are displayed, and you can view them in 3-d, then if you like it, send a copy to yourself in Inventor format. It remembers your file preference that you select.

 

I recently moved the design of my CNC router into Inventor to do some motion testing and used the tool to upload a bunch of stock parts into the assembly.
