AMCdesign Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Hi, I would really appreciate any help on this topic. It is the final stage in a long project so I am at my wits end. I have followed several youTube videos but it is the same result each time. I have created a title block for an A4 page. I am then trying to insert it into layout 1 of another drawing. All of the correct options have been selected but then when I go to specify the point, there is not title block. I am really confused! Thanks in advance, Aoife Quote
CyberAngel Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 There are several possibilities. Make sure the layer(s) that the block will go on is unlocked and thawed. Check the system variable INSBASE, which specifies where the block will go. If the block is annotative, make the scale current. Make sure you're in model space and not paper space. Use Zoom Extents and see if the block is somewhere in the distance. Remember, if you insert a block or drawing, it's there somewhere, even if you can't see it. You then have to understand why you can't see it. Quote
steven-g Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 How exactly are you inserting the block? you mention trying to insert it into another drawing, has the drawing with the block been saved first, otherwise AutoCAD won't be able to find the block to use in a second drawing. Quote
nukecad Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 (edited) Is this a small title block or a full drawing border? If it's a full border then as you are trying to get the template into a layout then this may be of help. It's getting a bit old now but should set you on the path to doing what you want to do. Basically you put the border/template (.dwt) into your layout and then use a window on the layout to see what is in modelspace. https://www.cadtutor.net/forum/topic/62352-titleblock/?tab=comments#comment-514547 Edited May 16, 2020 by nukecad Quote
