Only one entity is selected

Which system variable control the way to select  more than one entity by pick  with cursor.

 

If I  want to copy , from the tool bar menu,  it select the first , but when I select the second , it remove the first and select only the second.

If I select by Cross,  it select both

Right_click -> Options ->Tap Selection -> Use shift to add selection.
