RetroCAD Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 F.I.M.S. - It's rare, strange, and I've created a video about it. Quote
acad_2k Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Great video! I have the 10th edition of Ramsey-Sleeper "Architectural Graphic Standards" from 2000. It came with interactive software that works just like the one you demonstrated. It references drawings, details and tables from the book. I haven't used it in a while but I don't think it is programmable. Quote
RetroCAD Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 Thanks for watching! The most puzzling aspect of FIMS is that the Archibus company works entirely in the realm of facility management, so when I first used this back in the 90’s, I could not figure out why the demo was about car parts rather than buildings, floors, and rooms. f700es Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 LMAO, I use Archibus EVERYDAY! Met Bruce several times, I think he died a few years ago Quote
f700es Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 Current Archibus Webcentral screen.......I'll post a current Acad screen when I get back to work...next week Quote
RetroCAD Posted January 4, 2020 Author Posted January 4, 2020 I look forward to seeing your screenshots! Quote
f700es Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 Here is current Archibus-Autocad screen shot showing room data entry...... The rooms data is attached to a closed polyline on the "RM" layer. Other data such as building floor gross, department area, etc can also be stored on defined layers. Quote
RetroCAD Posted January 6, 2020 Author Posted January 6, 2020 Gotta hand it to Archibus for consistency. I started using this program 30 years ago and it remains conceptually identical. Quote
f700es Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 Yeah, it works so no need to change much on it. It can do more now but the basic functionality is still there. Quote
