Rendering Programs For DOS and Windows NT

Recommended Posts

Now that I've got my AutoCAD R12 (DOS) setup working properly, thanks to this forum, I'd like to look for rendering programs to work with it as well as my AutoCAD R13 (Windows NT) setup. I know 3D Studio is the natural companion, but I'm wondering if there were others. I don't need modeling capabilities because I will use AutoCAD for that.  Any suggestions?

See if you can get an old copy of Lightscape.  It was a pioneer in Radiosity Rendering.  I'm not sure who/what was the original publisher of the software, but it was eventually acquired by Autodesk.  Unfortunately, it was discontinued soon after.

The 'Gold Bug' image was rendered in Lightscape.

Awesome, thanks for the suggestion. I actually own Lightscape. I purchased it almost 20 years ago along with 3D Studio VIZ 3i and AutoCAD 2000i. I used AutoCAD daily but never had the time to learn VIZ or LS. I always assumed that Lightscape was an add on to VIZ, did not know it was a stand alone rendering program.
