Jaelin Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Okay, so were creating a digital terrain model (DTM) for a project. The file is a huge ongoing project. We are doing a miniture DTM that is about a 300 feet x 500 feet rectangle. We've done a lot of separate DTM's for this project without any problem. Yesterday and this morning we tried doing the DTM and we get these error messages. To get to this point we created our Boundary, and our point group. Brought that information into the Terrain model with no problem. When we go to grab the breaklines using "Proximity with Polyline" it grabs all the breaklines and then we get this error message. It then closes back out to the Terrain Model. If we try again to grab the breaklines using the same method we get this in the command line. This has been done on multiple computers and different days so I don't believe it's a PC problem. Any Ideas on how to fix this?? Quote
shift1313 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 ive never used civil but i had a similar error on inventor when all the files werent located in the same director and in the inventor folder on the C drive. In civil do you setup Project folder locations and share between all the different computers? Quote

But yeah, we set up the folders on a server and share the files through the server. All the computers are mapped to the same path or I:/ in this case. Quote
Hoozin Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Is there any way that somebody could have that .bin file open or using another program that's linking to it? It seems more like a file management error atm, but I'm kinda reaching out of my known territory. Quote

I'm thinking of running AUDIT or PURGE or both but have never did either. Any problems to anticipate with those?? Just the sound of PURGE worries me. Quote
Hoozin Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 PURGE will remove anything that is stored in the drawing file, but not used in the drawing (blocks, layers, etc.). It lets you look at everything before you delete it though, so don't just automatically click the "Purge All" button if you're not sure. Audit is just a repair utility, I don't think it can break anything. Quote
Jaelin Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 Well, back to square one. AUDIT and PURGE neither one helped. I'm stumped and I've gotta get this information to the client by Monday. Any more ideas?? Quote
rustysilo Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Audit and Purge won't help as they only deal with the .dwg. It appears that you are dealing with a problem pertaining to one of the external data files. It looks like the breaklines file since the filename ends in flt.bin which I think is where it stores breakline information. Did you check that folder to be sure that file was still there? If it is there it may have become corrupt. If it isn't there, where did it go? I would post at theswamp.org to see if they could help you out. Quote
