CADTutor Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Hello All, The CADTutor website will be moving to a new web host shortly and I thought it best to give you advanced warning. Although the moving of files from one server to another can be done quite quickly, there is always a delay while DNS propagation takes place, so and it's likely that this forum will be closed for around two days (hopefully less) while the migration takes place. The rest of the site will remain available during migration. Other than the temporary closure of the forum, you shouldn't notice any other changes except that (hopefully) the site will appear more responsive. I don't yet have a firm timescale for this but it's likely to take place in the next two weeks. I'll update this thread once I know more details. 1 2 Quote
CADTutor Posted August 22, 2019 Author Posted August 22, 2019 Hi All. The current plan is for the sever move to take place on Tuesday, 27th August. The forum will close on Monday evening/early Thursday (depending on wher eyou are in the world) and remain closed for approximately 12 hours. However, some of you may experience a longer downtime depending on how long the DNS changes take. Effectively, the forum will remain closed on the old server and will be opened on the new server as soon as everything has been checked, so you will see the open forum once your local DNS changes have taken place. I'll update this thread with any further information closer to the move. 1 Quote
CADTutor Posted August 26, 2019 Author Posted August 26, 2019 Just a reminder to everyone that the forum will be closing temporarily in around 12 hours from now and is likely to be closed for between 24 and 48 hours. 1 Quote
steven-g Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Looks like you got through it quicker than anticipated, I can stop drinking so much coffee now. 2 Quote
CADTutor Posted August 27, 2019 Author Posted August 27, 2019 Ha! It only just came back for me. DNS changes will vary depending where you are around the globe. So far it's looking good but do let me know if you spot anything odd. 1 Quote
SLW210 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 It seems much faster and smoother now. 1 1 Quote

CADTutor Posted September 12, 2019 Author Posted September 12, 2019 So we've been on the new server for a couple of weeks now and I'm just checking that there haven't been any problems? As far as I'm aware, everything feels a little more responsive and the site is generally a little faster - or a lot faster - the old server was sometimes a bit sluggish. Any observations or anything I should be aware of - surely something isn't quite right? Quote
steven-g Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Unfortunately if there are any problems I certainly haven't seen them , sorry 1 Quote
SLW210 Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 I remember the days when something on the internet taking 30~60 seconds was fast. So far so good as best I can tell. Good job David! Quote
