Strix
change the dim style?
marlon
i want the dimensions to appear 'straight' or aligned with the screen. Notice in the first picture that the dimension appears sideways; that's not what I want.
totzky
I have a problem seeing your posted image so it will be a long shot. Change your UCS to view.
marlon
When you start autocad, draw a rectangle and give it a thickness (or extrude it). Then use "dimlinear" command to get the dimension of either the length or width. Then 'orbit' the rectangle. Your dimension (line and text) 'orbits' as well, i.e. you turn the rectangle to right, the dimension follows; if you turn it all the way to the right, you wouldn't be able to see the dimension because it's sideways already. What I need is to be able to provide dimensions that look like the second picture.
stevsmith
change the ucs position to suit the direction of the dimension, you will need to experiment with the ucs to get the correct projection of the dim. The secon image looks like it has been done in an isometic projection in 2d not 3d. if this was the case then you will need to use oblique dimension.
