Drawings defaulting to Z axis

Hello, I am having an usual problem that I cannot seem to work out.  It should be very simple.  In the line command when I shift the cursor in the direction I wish to draw my line then type in the distance then enter the line defaults to the Z axis. My USC is in world. This drawing was drawn by others so might not be clean.  I have removed several 3D objects, used overkill, checked the USC and I just cannot think what it could be. This is what the text box says....

Specify first point:
Specify next point or [Undo]: 25 Zero length line created at (623243788.7405, 136187470.1785, 0.0000)

 

Anyone have a clue what to do? Help would be very much appreciated.

Following the steps you described in the provided CAD file, I could not recreate any sort of issue with the line command. Z elevations are fine on the newly created line, and it draws at the correct length with the correct bearing. I'm also in 2014 Civil, so that could have something to do with it.

 

Could you describe the issue with a little more detail? I understand you made this post over a week ago & haven't said anything else, so if you did find a solution, let us know. I'm curious as to what this issue was, though.

Sorry for the late response.

I just checked your file also and didn't experience any trouble drawing lines. I did run an Audit though, and fixed 4 errors, but that was after I had already tried drawing lines, so those errors weren't causing the problem. I suppose it's possible that Autocad could have been having a fit and a simple shut down and restart could have cleared the issue? As Incognito Cube mentioned, could you update us with your solution to this issue?
