CAD links display strange behavior

From time to time my CAD links will display weird behavior. The attachment shows a floor plan in one of my projects. The file's content is supposed to be contained in the lower left part of the image where you see more dense graphics, but one day when I loaded the project, parts of the linked file (dwg) had "shot out" up to the right for no particular reason. The file looks fine if I open it in AutoCAD, and also looks right if I link it in another project. Removing it and linking it again doesn't do any good either. Any idea what could cause this behavior?
