autocad mep conduit grips

Hi,

I am running Autocad MEP 2018...I have a conduit drawn and want to extend it. So i click on the triangle grip and do so. But if i want to extend it a second time because i didn't quite do i far enough, as soon as i click on the triangle a second time the grips disappear and i have to click on the conduit again to make the grips show up. Any idea why this is happening? If i remember correctly this didn't happen in previous versions. But i don't have a previous version installed to try it. Has it always worked this way?
