ReMark Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 (edited) Trim both circles that form the O.D. and I.D. so you end up with two arcs. Extrude the arcs up and through your extruded profile. These extruded arcs are surfaces that will be used to slice off portions of the extruded profile. You will be using the SLICE command with its Surface option to accomplish this task. When executing the SLICE command pay particular attention to the command line and what AutoCAD is both tell and asking you. This should be the result. Before we can array this however it must be tapered from the O.D. to the I.D. Edited November 27, 2017 by ReMark Quote
ReMark Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Draw two taper lines (cyan colored in image below) from the center of the the arcs to the outside corners of the extruded profile. These will be extruded upwards to slice off the edges of the profile. Again, you will be using the SLICE command with its Surface option to complete this task. Taper lines (which are surfaces) extruded through profile. Once you have trimmed the extruded profile with the taper lines you can array it. You are familiar with polar arrays are you not? Quote
ReMark Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Top view of tapered profile before executing a polar array. Visual style is X-ray. Quote
ReMark Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Final steps. Execute a polar array, explode the array (since it will be a block, then union all the ridges to form a single 3D solid model. If after all this you still cannot accomplish the task then perhaps you need to practice with the 3D modeling commands a bit more before attempting to create your spacer ring. Quote
SLW210 Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 I have moved your thread to the AutoCAD 3D Modelling & Rendering Forum, please post in the correct forum. Quote
BIGAL Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Great tutorial Remark For Basty re read my post in particular the use of rotate3D look at Remark's image where the profile is standing vertical compared to the circles. Quote
ReMark Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 BIGAL: Thank you for your kind words. Basty: You can also use the Object option with the SLICE command. You do not necessarily have to extrude the lines and create surfaces. Quote
ReMark Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 basty: Did you finally figure it out or did you give up? Quote
