.layout file type

Has anyone ever converted a .layout file type to AutoCAD? I was sent drawings with that file type but I can't do anything with them. How do I convert them to dwg?

Right now all I have is AutoCAD 2006 and I can't seem to figure out how to do anything with that. I don't really want to go through the trouble of downloading the free trial of AutoCAD unless I know for sure that it will be a fairly smooth conversion.

Thanks!

.layout is a filetype created by Sketchup LayOut.

There is a plugin that allows you to open Sketchup files in newer Acad versions - but I'm not sure if you can use it with 2006, and I'm not sure if it only imports .SKP files.

You may need to ask whoever sent you the file to send it again in .dwg or .dxf format.

Sketchup Pro can produce either of these.

I will just ask him to convert it for me I guess.

Thanks for the info!
