CADgirl Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Has anyone ever converted a .layout file type to AutoCAD? I was sent drawings with that file type but I can't do anything with them. How do I convert them to dwg? Right now all I have is AutoCAD 2006 and I can't seem to figure out how to do anything with that. I don't really want to go through the trouble of downloading the free trial of AutoCAD unless I know for sure that it will be a fairly smooth conversion. Thanks! Quote
nukecad Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 .layout is a filetype created by Sketchup LayOut. https://help.sketchup.com/ru/article/3000194 There is a plugin that allows you to open Sketchup files in newer Acad versions - but I'm not sure if you can use it with 2006, and I'm not sure if it only imports .SKP files. https://apps.autodesk.com/ACD/en/Detail/Index?id=4545979311403124726&appLang=en&os=Win32_64 You may need to ask whoever sent you the file to send it again in .dwg or .dxf format. Sketchup Pro can produce either of these. https://help.sketchup.com/sv/article/3000235 https://help.sketchup.com/sv/article/3000153 Quote
CADgirl Posted October 12, 2017 Author Posted October 12, 2017 I will just ask him to convert it for me I guess. Thanks for the info! Quote
