Select object window Autocad 2016

this might be simple to fix, when i selected object drag from top left to lower right, before it usually select as rectangle but now it shows something like LASSO, how do i fix this? i just want regular polygon select window. can i turn it off somewhere so it stops doing this.

Yes, you can turn it off, BUT now the window works on just clicking the corners. So, just click the corners. At times the Lasso (yes, it is called that) will come in handy. Just because it surprised you doesn't mean it's stupid.

 

Have you ever had to select two or three times just to avoid one or two things? Well, now you don't have to, with a well dragged lasso you can go all over while avoiding certain objects. The lasso works with the usual left to right, or right to left behavior.

 

It is in Options somewhere. Hit the F1 key. Then if you still want to turn it off, do so.

I believe it is named after the photoshop tool lasso which work similarly. Also it is quite a handy tool once you get used to it.
