boofredlay Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I am not sure if this has been suggested yet or not but the colors that show if a user is online or offline are too close together. It is difficult to distinguish the difference, at least on my monitor here at work. Maybe the offline square should just go black. Just a thought. Quote
ReMark Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Gads that's an ugly likeness of me. Where did you get that? I'm much shinier in person. Where's makeup when you need them? Makeup! Quote
Strix Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 might I suggest you adjust your monitor then? the colours on mine show very clearly differently if you really need to know who's online, check the list on the forum homepage Quote
ReMark Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 For point of reference my colors are remarkably similar to your's boofredlay. Notice how I slip my name in there? I'm such a sly dog. Quote
Strix Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 ReMark - whatever he posts is going to look exactly like it does already surely maybe you guys have a touch of colour blindness - green and blue being a major issue with that affliction Quote
ReMark Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Thanks Strix...I can see clearly now. Praise the Lord and pass the sunglasses! LOL Quote
Lee Mac Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I think its a good suggestion, but not a necessary one. Obviously the two symbols are different shades of the same colour, which may be harder to distinguish upon first glance, but it is distinguishable all the same. Quote
GypsyQueen Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I think its a good suggestion, but not a necessary one. Obviously the two symbols are different shades of the same colour, which may be harder to distinguish upon first glance, but it is distinguishable all the same. I think the buttons should change to ReMark's avatar when ppl are online. Quote
Tiger Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I think the buttons should change to ReMark's avatar when ppl are online. I second that! Quote
skipsophrenic Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I second that! An i'll give it a third vote! Quote
ReMark Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Stop it, all of you! You're making me blush! Hmmmm.....Can a machine blush? Quote
Tiger Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Stop it, all of you! You're making me blush! Hmmmm.....Can a machine blush? I think it would be called rust.... Quote
Lee Mac Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I think it would be called rust.... haha true. Quote
GypsyQueen Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 maybe you guys have a touch of colour blindness - green and blue being a major issue with that affliction Seeing as how that may be a problem, perhaps it would be advantageous to have the color change be significant enough that instead of going from a darker shade of the same color it should change to a completely different color when indicating? Color blindness is more common than most people realize. My boss, one of my closest friends, two of my uncles, and several co-workers over the years have all been color blind. Just thinking aloud here. Quote
skipsophrenic Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Bright fuscia pink for the girls onlune/Royal blue for the lads - White offline? Quote
GypsyQueen Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Bright fuscia pink for the girls onlune/Royal blue for the lads - White offline? How about instead of colors we go with the whole, checkmark for online, none for offline, and a big "x" for the report a post button? Quote
skipsophrenic Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 now that's a thought *runs off to see what happened to cause my own brain cells to work* Quote
boofredlay Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 Well I am not color blind and I can see the difference but like Lee Mac said, they are different shades of the same color and some monitors might show them closer together. I can see it more clearly on my machine at home for example. Do I think it is necessary? No, It was just a suggestion. I think the buttons should change to ReMark's avatar when ppl are online. I love it. Would that mean the Terminator is after us! Speaking of color blindness, I have to give our Landscape Architect a "lesson" on rendering his landscape plans in Photoshop next week. He is color blind so I have to set up a color palette with names next to the colors to match the markers he used to use. Quote
boofredlay Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 Over at the SketchUp forums we have this to show who is online. Not that I think it should be that way here, just an example. I think black for offline and green for online would be fine. Quote
