Cad64 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) Posted below are some simple guidelines to follow when creating a new thread here in the 3D section. Before posting a new thread, take a few minutes and use the forum's "Search" function. This forum has been around for a while now, so the chances are pretty good that your question may have already been asked and answered previously. Be sure to name your new thread appropriately. Thread titles such as 'Please Help Me' or 'Newbie question here' or 'Why isn't this working' are not very good thread titles. Try to be as descriptive as possible. The more descriptive the title, the greater the chances of getting a question answered quickly. Non-descriptive titles sometimes tend to get overlooked. Also, keywords in the title will trigger the forum software to do an automatic search for you and the results will be displayed in the "Similar Threads" at the bottom of the page. So, in effect, you could conceivably answer your own question just by having the right keywords in the thread title. If you are posting a final render that you would like to show off, this is the wrong area of the forum. These types of threads should be posted in the Showcase section. If you haven't already filled out your user profile, including your system specs, you should do so now. Otherwise, be sure to include that information along with your question. Knowing your computer specs, in advance, will save us from having to ask for them and then wait for you to reply. Minimal RAM, low end graphic cards and slow processor speed are all key factors in diagnosing problems with video display, system lag, long render times, etc. Try to provide as much information as possible when asking a question. Explain what the problem is, what options you have tried and what were the results. This will save us from advising you to try things that you have already attempted. A picture is worth a thousand words, so whenever possible, include a screenshot or two with your question. It's very helpful for us to actually see what you are seeing on your screen. Also, if possible, post the actual file so we can test it on our systems. This saves us from having to create a file from scratch that may or may not behave the same as the one you are working on. If you don't know how to include images or files with your post, see HERE. By following these simple guidelines you will be helping us to help you and, as a result, we will be able to help you find the answers you are seeking much faster. Happy modeling. See you in the forum. Edited August 31, 2010 by Cad64 Revised
