SWfangirl Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 I am looking at a HP ZBook Studio G3 with the following specs: NVIDIA® Quadro® M1000M with 4GB dedicated GDDR5 graphics memory Intel® Core™ i7 Processor non vPro Label 16 GB 2133 DDR4 SDRAM (1 DIMM) 512 GB PCIe Z Turbo Solid-State Drive (SSD) 15.6 inch LED Touchscreen Does anyone have any experience with a computer like this with Map3D or Civil 3D? If so how does it perform? Quote
ReMark Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Did you compare it to any other laptops? For example...the Dell Precision 5510? Quote
f700es Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 The quadro is over spec'ed for AutoCAD work imho. A GTX based unit will save some $$ and you should see no difference in performance. A touchscreen is also overkill unless the laptop is a convertible (screen flips over). I recently (last year) bought an Asus N550JK laptop (i7 quad, 16gb, 256 ssd, 2gb GTX 850/Intel 4600 w/touch screen) and I really don't use the touch screen at all. It runs Revit, AutoCAD Arch, Acad, PS and Illustrator with no issue. What I like on the HP: 6th gen core i7 16gb DDR4 3840 x 2160 available screen res Still gun shy on HP pc products myself. Not a bad looking unit. Quote
