hello,

this is making me crazy.... please see the screenshot. I want to modify the printable area on paper space, to align it with that chart... so the dashed line has to align with the smaller chart ... how can i do this?

i've been looking around and i only found suggestions about page setup manager... i did try to change a few parameters but nothing.....

scale is 1:2000

thanks!

ok my chart is 651 x 430 ( insunits = 6 )

i tried to select ISO B2 (707 x 55 ) mm and see the screenshot that i've got.

can you suggest which paper size to use?

thank you!

Could this have been started with an imperial template?

please if you can help, let me know how to resize the paper space in order to match a chart of 651 x 430

insunits = 6

thanks

let's start at the bottom. Is your chart drawn in modelspace or paperspace? I don't see a viewport frame. Is there a viewport?

Insunits is irrelevant to this issue.

What is that plot scale shown on your screenshot? Why is it not simply 1:1.

And once again, are you using a metric system drawing template or an imperial measurement system template?

Ok i've attached the DWG for an easier understanding.

The procedure that I have to follow is to xref the base (frame) chart to the template, and so i did it.

the xreffed base is this "ERS001_28GAS_LEG PRELAY.dwg"

I don't know about the plot scale of the attached template, all i know is that the chart scale has to be 1:2000

I'm using metric system, insunits=6

this base chart will have to represent portion of data in the real word represented in the 3 panels ( attached )

So, the panels in real word are 1032 x 136 m

the same panels in the base/template should be half of the size right? as my scale is 1:2000

I'm getting a bit confused. Basically I have to follow these guidelines :

With Paper Space Charts the Box sizes in the Chart Layout are at Paper Size (i.e. 1:1000 – 1 unit = 1mm). When Creating the Panels you specify the Width/Height as ‘Real-World’ values based on the required Chart Scale.

e.g. If the Box Size on the Chart Layout is 860mmx200mm (Paper Size)

If you are making 1:2000 scale Charts, the ‘Real-world’ size for the Panels is 1720m x 400m

If you are making 1:5000 scale charts the Panel Size is 4300m x 1000m

bottom line, i've constructed this template with base xreffed, at the proper scale and size, but i don't understand how to have the paper space aligned with the chart that i have to plot.... pls see image

i hope this is clear?

thanks!

also, there's something very odd, if you open the xref "ERS001_28GAS_LEG PRELAY.dwg" from the template, there's a random red dot that i can't rid of.... please see red arrow image

Both drawings appear to be metric. Nothing in the template drawing that I can see. Anyone else?

If parts of the drawing must be to a certain scale then I would recommend the use of at least one layout and one or more viewports to which the scale(s) can be assigned.

That is because the xref was attached in paperspace WAY WAY WAY off away from the paper layout image. There are three rectangles in the xref, but they look nothing like a chart.

To the OP: There is NO VIEWPORT in paperspace.

This is all wrong.

Attach your xref in MODELSPACE at 0,0,0 then go to the paperspace layout and insert a viewport. Scale the viewport to whatever scale is needed.

I saw the three rectangles but I did not think they had anything to do with an xref.

Hopefully this makes sense had a look and 3 panels will not fit at 1:2000, we would normally turn a skinny shape to horizontal with a North points so I am going down this path. Draw a line on one of your 3 panels the long side then UCS OB pick line UCS S ROAD. Got to your layout delete all that is there and UCS W Plan as you have a twisted UCS in this dwg. Metric use say a A1 sheet go to paper space draw a box 800x575 create a viewport inside this box go into this box then UCS R Road PLAN Zoom E as a start, turn on the Viewports toolbar makes life much easier. A number appears in the viewports box type 0.5 in this box this is 1:2000 1 would be 1:1000 which I would use. shrink the viewport to suit panel size and copy copy down pan across and you can now see 3 panels in two seperate viewports, click the two panels and Right button on Mouse "Lock viewports YES"

Your title is a Xref and you have not posted but insert your xref at 0,0 in paper space at 1:1 scale should be around the 800x750 in size then plot at 1:1 should work.
