Jerre Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 (edited) hello! Sorry if I missed a threat about this subject, but I've encountered the next problem: While working on a 3D model, during change of view or visual style, some solids disappeared and appeared back if I went back to previous view. But when I opened my model this morning, a lot of solids were disappeared and didn't appeared back again. When I tried recover, all the solids were gone. When I select all, the selection shows I've selected 643 solids, but not visible or clickable at all. Also when I convert the BAK-file or same sort of file from a previous savepoint, it happens. I wanted to check what happened if I imported the file in sketchup (to check if it wasnt the file but autocad), it gave a theiga 46 error. It looks like something happend with the file. Also purging and audit or regen don't help at all. Does somebody know what the problem is in this case? And maybe if it's solvable? edit: when I click on the file one time, it shows a preview in the condition it was, see picture Edited March 4, 2016 by Jerre added picture Quote
ReMark Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 It's difficult to imagine that solid models would just up and disappear on their own during a change of view or visual style. I hope you retained an original copy of the drawing before you started "experimenting" with different commands to retrieve the missing solids. Please say you did. Quote
Isham_Dean21 Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 i'm having a similar problem. i 3d modeled my cnc machine over the last few nights out of boredom. everytime i hit save, close autocad 2015, fire it up the next night, some of my parts move WAY out in model space. however, when you click on them, it shows the grips in the correct place. so the 3d model is blown out several hundred feet but the "wireframe" and grips are in correct place. what the crap?! it's been doing that every single day when i fire it back up. it's usually only 3 or 4 parts but this time is a ton. i'm the "clean freak" when it comes to drawings. i don't have any layers in there that don't need to be or whatever. always have clean drawings but this is just crazy. any thoughts anyone?? ReMark Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Without seeing an actual copy of the drawing, and testing it, I'd find it difficult to say with any certainty what the problem may be. Any chance you would be willing to share the drawing with us? I'm guessing the file size limit here may be against you and if that is the case you could always upload it to a file sharing website, like Dropbox, then post a link to the drawing here. Quote
Isham_Dean21 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 i stripped crap out to make it able to upload on here...you'll see what i mean Problems.dwg Quote
ReMark Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) OK...now that I have the drawing open I see if I click on some of the geometry off to the left the grips appear in the geometry to the right which I admit is a bit strange. As a test I managed to reunite some of the 3D parts with their grips, saved, then reopened the drawing. The objects did not change position. Edited March 28, 2016 by ReMark Quote
ReMark Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) I may have come across something of interest to you. I found an article at the cadtobim website dated 10/22/15 referencing your exact problem which the author attributes to a bug in AutoCAD (not sure how far back the bug goes). He also mentions a dvb procedure that can correct the problem without having to edit each 3D solid object in one's drawing individually. You can read more about it by following the link below. Download the grips_solid_corector.dvb file. I have not tested this myself and cannot vouch for the efficacy of the fix. http://www.cadtobim.com/autocad-specialist/-displaced-solid-objects-and-grip-problem Note that Microsoft Visual Basic is required to run the .dvb file. At some point in time this used to be installed right along with AutoCAD but AutoDesk ceased providing it meaning users had to go to their website to download a copy. Update: So I visited the AutoDesk website looking for VBA but the only versions avail for download were for AutoCAD 2014 through 2017. I think this means AutoCAD 2013 users either had it installed during the installation process or it is available on the installation media. One last thing. I see you are using AutoCAD 2013. Is the latest service pack installed? Edited March 28, 2016 by ReMark Quote
Isham_Dean21 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 i'm using AutoCAD 2015. what did you do to reunite the objects and their grips? it's so stupid that it does it everytime i close cad and reopen. it looked perfect the night that i finished it (or what i'm calling finished) and then for it to be blown out in space is just frustrating. i will check out the article now. thanks for you help...again lol Quote
Isham_Dean21 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 should've read the article before posting back. lol...i see how you reunited them now Quote
ReMark Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I stumbled upon the method I used to reunite objects/grips before I found the article I provided the link to. You should update you profile to reflect you are using 2015. Once you download MS Visual Basic and get it installed return to AutoCAD and run the VBAMAN command to load the .dvb file. Quote
Isham_Dean21 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 our freakin' computers are so locked down with permissions, i'll have to get IT to do that. i tried myself but exe files strictly require permissions. hopefully they can knock that out soon. i've had that same problem in CADWorx before but my co-worker (who is no longer here) typed in a command and everything went back to normal. i just can't remember that command to save my life. and i also don't know if it was a CADWorx only command or not. either way, i appreciate the help! i'll get my profile updated while i'm at it too. thanks again man. ReMark Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I don't know of a magic command that will fix the problem. Until you posted I never knew there was such a problem and my online research did not turn up much evidence that this is a common occurrence. I certainly have never encountered it and I've done a lot of work with 3D solid models both within my company and for other forum members posting here with questions re: solid models. You are the first and only. A singularly unique honor is it not? Quote
SLW210 Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I do believe there was a post on here when 2013 was first released showing this problem. Not sure if there was a solution or not. I found it. http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?68707-AutoCAD-2013-Bug Quote
ReMark Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I did not see a real solution to the problem unless it was to install service pack 1.1 for AutoCAD 2013. In my opinion users would be better off going back to 2012 as 2013 was cursed from the very beginning. Quote
