Rudbeckia Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Hello, I have a point cloud rvt file. I want to create a tin or mesh with it and export it to sketchup. Is this super complicated? I do not know revit. thx Quote
tzframpton Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Revit can Link in Point Cloud data, but Revit itself is not a program that can convert point cloud data to any particular type of modeling. You may be referring to Autodesk ReCap instead. Quote
halam Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 You can only 'draw' over the poincloud in Revit (as in all other cad programs) there is special software to turn pointcloud into mesh or even Solids. Try pointcloud een mesh te maken. Try this YouTube 21 day trial http://www.imaginit.com/software/imaginit-utilities-other-products/scan-to-bim Quote
Rudbeckia Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 Thanks! That's what I needed to know about revit. I have cleaned up the point cloud in recap, that's all its for right? Didn't think you could draw a mesh in recap Quote

Didn't think you could draw a mesh in recap I believe the pro version of ReCap can detect planes and objects and auto-generate meshes. If you don't have pro then yes, all you can do is manage the point data, not auto-generate geometry of any kind. Quote
tzframpton Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Thanks for the clarification Halam. I thought I saw it was possible somewhere but wasn't sure. I have the normal version with my suite package so no way for me to check. Quote
hlammerts Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) This might help too. The fearure to create meshes from photos (memento) is often confoused for point to mesh ability http://www.autodesk.com/products/recap/compare so i think no..
