Is it possible to export a 3d rhino model into a 3d pdf? I've seen it done with sketchup and Microstation, but not rhino.

yes

 

use the "Print Screen" function of Windows to bring models from Rhino4 to Acrobat 3D directly. Texture assignments will stay intact after transfer.
