johnseg11 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 We have a Leica Viva data collector. The data collector also takes photos that can be linked to points. We took about 750 points of gravestones and would like to link the photos to the points so if you click on a point in civil 3d, it will show the photo of the gravestone. The points are linked to the photos in the data collector, but when we download to civil 3d, all that comes in is the point number, coordinates, elevation and description. The Leica makes a .xml file that we imported in but still no luck. Can anyone help? John Quote
Murph_map Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 You can do it if there is a link between the photo name and the point description when you capture the point. Take a look at this blog post for one way. You can also use hyperlinks but will have to manually create all the links. Quote
BIGAL Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Wow a data collector that takes photos ! I only have a camera. I think you meant the total station takes photos and saves on the data collector. Have you gone back to Leica they sold you the data collector and instrument so ask them how to make it work. Please post answer for others, the guys here are looking for a new instrument.. Quote
johnseg11 Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 I tried contacting Leica but they do not return my calls. They were very responsive for the first 6 months after purchase, now not so much. Quote
BIGAL Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Find out the managers name at your Leica dealership ask for him/her if no response then go to Leica Head office and complain. Leica is big enough that it should respond to complaints made by customers. Quote
