Area reinforcement question

Recommended Posts

We are implementing Revit at our office atm, so im new to revit. When an area reinforced concrete wall is cut (welded wire refinforcement), only the cut rebars are shown (solid black)....is there a way to show the vertical bars as well......say black solid filled f.i.

Make sure the area reinforcement layers have both the Major and Minor rebar directions selected, in the area outlined in red below (click the image to enlarge):

Once those are set, make sure the section cut's "Far Clip Offset" reaches far enough to grab a vertical bar. For instance, if your bar spacing is 12" O.C. and your section cut is located in between the two vertical bars, and has a clip offset of 4", you'll never "reach" the other bar, so it's not shown in your section cut.

Hope this helps. :)

*EDIT*

Tip!!! To show your rebar as single line, open V/G and under the Structural Rebar category, locate the right column and change "By View" to "Coarse". Most categories in Revit represent objects different between Coarse, Medium and Fine detail. For instance: Rebar, Duct, Pipe, etc. all show as double line under Fine Detail, but show as single line as Coarse Detail. Once you make this change, now click the Override button under the Projection/Surface > Lines column and change the lineweights to something much bolder, such as 4, 5 or 6 - just play with this setting to get it how you like it.

Allright, that worked! Now we would like the same thing for fabric reinforcement....that is still a no-show on my screen (for the vertical rebars). Ny thougts on that?

Should be the exact same process to fix.

One other thing to try is to see how your Fabric Reinforcement types are defined. In the Project Browser > Families > Structural Fabric Reinforcement > Fabric Sheet, you should find all the defined fabric reinf. types. Right-click any one of these you're using and choose Type Properties and make sure bar and spacing and all other parameters are properly set. And, again, make sure the Section Far Offset setting is long enough to pass through at least one vertical bar.

I got it to work, but only in Wireframe, guess that'll have to do. Thanx!

You could always make the Structural Wall or Foundation Category transparent which will show the internal Rebar. Typically, in a Section View, you don't need to use Wireframe since the view "cuts" through each entity, exposing all the Categories. So you may be in an Elevation View by mistake.
