MGS Posted September 27, 2016 Author Posted September 27, 2016 I loaded a cui file that I have been using since 2008 - it worked perfectly in 2012 on my laptop, and in 2012 on the desktop one first start up, then no. I haven't even had it once in 2014, just the blank RH menu space Quote
ReMark Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 I am not sure why it would work once then not continue to work. So you basically replaced the stock CUI file that came with 2012 with the one from 2008? Quote
MGS Posted September 27, 2016 Author Posted September 27, 2016 I have been using 2008 since, well 2008, as I am used to it, it does what I need, and I have never had any problems with it. The menu file has been a .cui file, which was converted from a older .mnu file. Obviously with everchanging upgrades in both AutoCAD and Windows, I got to the point where I had to move on a little, and so my first move was to put 2012 on a laptop. This is how this thread started, as I had problems with that, but I eventually sorted them, and all my menus and lisp routines (all written by an ex-employee years ago) have been working perfectly in 2012 on the laptop. I have recently had a new desktop built using Windows 7, which enables me to install a more recent AutoCAD and to try to get used to it. I had the bright idea of installing 2012 on the new machine, set it up exactly as the laptop, and then install 2014 and migrate the settings. This all worked to plan, even getting the screen menu on the right hand side, but as I said, it worked on the first start up after installation, but then all the text went. I haven't even had that in 2014, just the blank right hand menu with nothing in it. I was saving work spaces as I went along (in 2012), but even though when I saved them the text and menus were there, when I restarted AutoCAD, they weren't, just the space. And people wonder why I have stayed with 2008!!!! Quote
MGS Posted September 27, 2016 Author Posted September 27, 2016 I am going to have to go home soon, so thanks for your help, but if you do respond again, and I don't get back to you until tomorrow, that will be the reason. Cheers. Quote
welldriller Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 No pointing device?!?! Is that even possible? What --- no arrows on your keyboard ???? Quote
BIGAL Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 MSG Did you check my post about the screen menus as I hinted I used them a lot also they were a real simple way of getting preset values, I did have problems though. When I have some time will check again using with 2016. Again as I suggested pull all your customised menus out of the normal cuix and make partials so much easier to update. Quote
