f700es Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 So we had some $$ left over in this years budget and I asked about getting a laptop for CAD use as well as for meetings and presentations. It just came in and I thought I'd share the specs and price in case anyone else is looking. I haven't installed any software yet so I can't share on any performance results/opinions. ASUS N550JK Intel core i7 4710HQ / 2.5 GHz Win 8.1 64-bit 16 gb ram 256 gb ssd dvd-rw 15.6" lcd w/touch (1920x1080) dual GPU: Intel HD4600/nVidia GF GTX 850M $1,229.99 USD http://www.asus.com/us/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/N550JK/ I stayed away from the super high res displays as we still have some older overheads projectors on campus and the high res might not work as well with them. CADMASTER1128 Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 This is very similar to the notebook that I just bought. The only downfall is AutoCAD favors the Intel 4600 Card. I emailed Autodesk about the issue and they sent me some solutions. Either way, I am not disappointed in the performace of the PC. I do use it for gaming every once in awhile.
