Ubrigens Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Hello, Which is the best method of tracing around a PDF image in Autocad???? Quote
Spaj Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Hi Try an on-line convesion service such as: www.convertpdftoautocad.com/ At least you will have AutoCAD entities to work with. Quote
ReMark Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 A digitizer would be THE best method. I'm pretty sure though you don't have one. The next best method would be to use a conversion program but that all hinges on how the PDF was created. The last method would be to bring the PDF into AutoCAD via the PDFATTACH command then trace over it. Quote
RobDraw Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 From my experience, I would put "tracing" before conversion. It's much easier for me to do it right the first time than have to try to fix the bad CAD you get from conversion software. Quote
BIGAL Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Make sure you use ORTHO and snaps even set SNAP if the object is incremental to nice even numbers leave dynamic input on so you can see measurement or mouse drag and type to ensure accuracy and less rework. Scale it as close as possible to real. Quote
nukecad Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I have used pdfFLY in the past and it did a good job on converting Vector (and Raster) PDFs to .dxf on 41 HVAC drawings I needed to convert. Its not free but there is a 30 day free trial. For my review (from 2009 the programme has added new options since then), an example of a converted drawing, and a link to where you can download the free trial see: http://www.cadeverything.com/help/sh...ghlight=pdffly Quote
f700es Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I still say that usable Raster-to-Vector conversion is the Holy Grail of the CAD world. Maybe when computers become self-aware. Quote
