steeldesigner Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Ive been using autocad since 1990, with the classic interface. When i first upgraded to autocad 2009, i was shocked at how the interface looked. One thing that i always liked about autocad is they never changed the commands. I started using auto cad in 1990 to 1994, then i took a break untill 2000. I wanted to get back into autocad, i always loved it but the last time i used it in 1994 it was still in dos mode, what the hell is "windows" i was so happy when i could just jump right back in it and find all my old commands still worked, way to go autodesk, like an old jeep, they still haven't changed the body style. Anyway when i upgraded to 2009 and seen this crazy new interface i was kind of upset and then relieved to find that i could switch to autocad classic. If it aint broke dont fix it. Well just recently i decided to give this ribbon business a try, and i actually kind of like, but now i clicked on something and the whole layout of the ribbon is something that i hate. How do i change the view and layout of this ribbon, i want it back to the way it is when i first switched from classic to this ribbon thing. I figured i would ask here instead of wasting time searching in the help menu, im right in the middle of a project and i gotta keep drawing. Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this and shine a little light my way.. Quote
Dana W Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Post a screenshot of what you have now, so we'll have a clue to what "something" might be. Quote
Cad64 Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Look for a little double down arrow at the end of your menu bar, next to Express Tools. If you hover your cursor over it you will see the "Show Full Ribbon" message appear. Click once on the larger of the two down arrows and your full ribbon should return. Quote
steeldesigner Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 Ok, that got me back to where i wanna be. Gonna give this ribbon another chance, there are some cool features, ive been using the autocad classic since 2000. Never really needed anything new, but now i finally got my little home business going, (steel detailing) some things i can use when im my own boss, its gonna be my way hey, thanks guys!! Quote
BlackBox Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Welcome back to the world of CAD. Alot has in deed changed over the years, and changes come more and more frequently... Improvise, adapt, and overcome... Or risk being left behind. The choice is always yours to make... Choose wisely. Cheers Quote
Dadgad Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I believe that 2009 was the year which introduced the DASHBOARD, that was the year I took the Autocad basic instruction. That one didn't last too long. You can also use RIBBON and RIBBONCLOSE respectively at the commandline, to show and hide the ribbon. Quote
stevsmith Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 You can revert back to the default (Pre-Ribbon) Autocad by selecting the 'AutoCAD Classic' interface within workspaces. This can be done by selectiing the workspace icon (a little cog symbol) in the bottom right hand corner of AutoCAD and select 'AutoCAD XX Classic' Quote
