NOVICECADGUY Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Good morning, I'm typically running ACAD 2013 with a big focus in 2D drafting. Recently the purchase of survey equipment has given me a "baptized by fire" introduction to Civil 3d. I was given point files of surveys. I was told to use a grid surface as opposed to TIN surface. So here is where the issues start. 1) I can't figure out how to upload point groups to grid surfaces in the toolspace 2) When I do use a TIN surface(just to try to get something) the triangulation cuts corners on my survey. This is quite apparent when I upload the point group to the TIN surface and overlay the contour surface over the points. 3) The end result needs to be a plan view of a colored contour map with contour lines that divide depths and give a sounding (think I got the labeling of depth with the tags). What is the quick easy fix? Is there something I'm not understanding? I've looked at all kinds of youtube videos but nobody seems to show me what I need. Thanks a million for any/all help! Quote
NOVICECADGUY Posted April 8, 2015 Author Posted April 8, 2015 Well, I've fought my way to a plan view with colors and contour lines. The only thing I haven't figured out is to make a plan view look more realistic and 3d if you will. My image has defined lines and colors and I'm looking to try and blend the colors so the transition between elevations is smooth. Any thoughts? Quote
SLW210 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I moved your thread to the Civil 3D & LDD Forum. Please post Civil 3D & LDD related questions there. Quote
BIGAL Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 If your using a contour style with "Shade" you can change the number of colours to be used giving more subtle change between levels. Quote
NOVICECADGUY Posted April 9, 2015 Author Posted April 9, 2015 By contour style I'm assuming you are referring to the surface style located under the information tab in the surface properties? I've chosen contours 2' and 10' (design) for my surface style and made sure "elevations" were turned on in the display. I still can't figure out how to add colors. I've gotten pretty familiar with the navigation of surface menus so if you could point me in the right direction I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks again! Quote
BIGAL Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 There is an option "Rainbow' will find it you can increase the number of colours. Quote
