GISdude Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Hi all, I'm trying to create a new layer in Layer Manager and when I choose color, I'll choose Red. But when I create new text on that new layer, the text won't change to Red - the properties box still says, "ByLayer". What gives? I've googled several times, but nothing really. Thanks, Quote
ReMark Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 My first thought would be to look at the Ribbon > Home tab > Properties panel and see if the color of the layer is set to something other than ByLayer. Yes, I read what you said about setting the layer color in the Layer Properties Manager. I'd appreciate it if you checked anyway. Thank you. Quote
MonkeyTurnip Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 text has a 3rd way of being assigned a colour. double click the text to open uo the mtext editor, highlight the text and see what colour it is set to there. its a seperate colour to the standard layer and "bylayer". change it to bylayer and all should be good Quote
RobDraw Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 In order for an object to take on the color of a layer the color should be set to "By Layer". Your question isn't very clear in explaining what is happening. What color is the text? Is it on the correct layout? Has as override been set in the text editor? FYI, overriding the color in the text editor is usually frowned upon for a variety of reasons. Keep it at "By Layer" unless the change is just for that particular instance and you really want it to stick. Quote
nestly Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Attach a sample drawing with the text that's not displaying as expected for a fast and accurate resolution. Quote
